Force 4 etc are only operating Mail order but I am sure these would fall into the same category as Homebase and B&Q .

most small independent shops like bakers and chemists have managed to limit the numbers inside with a queuing system. This would seem to be a good way to start re-opening.

My parents went to clean the boat last week and said that our local Force 4 was open.
It was closed when I went past on Sunday, so presumably operating reduced hours.

My local chandler has been open all through. Either mail order or phone your order through pay by card and collect. ( Collection is by turning up knocking on the door and waiting at a distance whilst your order is left on the step). I suppose that having a huge fishing industry in the town makes it an essential service.

When the world finally understands that we're no more likely to catch a cold walking into a shop than we ever have over the past 500 years, sanity and normality will return to the human race. The fact that the same people have been working in supermarkets for weeks without catching anything while all the customers are nervously disinfecting the handles of trolleys and baskets before going in there for 20 minutes ought to have been noticed by now.

In the meantime I just chortle watching people riding bikes and struggling to breath through a mask, like there are germs circulating like pollen all over the road. Social media and indeed mainstream media and politicians have a lot to answer for. Then again maybe most of the population is simply thick.

When the infection and death rate falls to zero in about a fortnight and everyone is still refusing to go to work because the sun's out, the game will be up.

I was in Arthur’s in Gosport collecting my sail and they have taped floors and screens up and are open if you need any items. I believe you boat are also open with controlled access of course for both.

Seamark Nunn are also open for mail order and click and collect - they message you when ready and left outside the door for you to collect. I used yesterday, quick and convenient.

Force 4 in Shamrock Quay are open too. Technically I suppose they come within the exemption for hardware shops and not much of a problem social distancing in them at the moment.

I think you are treating this disease far too lightly. One of my friends is now quaranteed due to her lodger having it. It has suddenly become real and I feel for her and her two children.

My assistant had it. She was jolly ill for a fortnight and came back to work on Monday. It’s good because we can now ignore social distancing because she is immune. Handy as we have to go somewhere by car soon saves taking 2.
Just because you know someone with it does not change the risk profile.
And you are still free to make your own judgements. No one is forcing you to go to a chandlery.
I’m glad mine is open.
