I need to mount an aluminium windlass onto a teak plinth on a GRP deck. It is held down with 4off10mm bolts. The base casting flange varies from 20mm to 40mm. The manufacturer states a Silcone glue. Silcone is ok on metal but has poor adhesion to wood. The windlas would need to be able to be removed for major winch servicing. What sealant would the forum suggest, I would run a bead of the sealant onto the mounting face before it is placed on the plinth. It seems a PU adhesive is the way to go but how difficult would it be to get the windlass off the plinth. Not sure why it needs to be and adhesive, would a not setting sealant be better. I have CT1 and a Stixall product, both say how good the adhesion is. I might try with some scrap material and see but forum ideas and experience welcome
