Yep, we had ours done by a local sailmaker - Jessail - in Ardrossan. She did a great job.
Our survey advice (April this year) was that, with modern materials, it wasn't required. Unfortunately, the sails had not been removed by the previous owner for some time, and so needed a couple of repairs in the exposed areas in the first few months. Hence the new strip.
If you do go to Arun/Rockall make sure you get a firm quote. I had one done about two months ago. They estimated around £90 to fit a sacrificial strip. My bill came to over £160. I'm too squeamish to argue and they were trying to close up on a Saturday so I just paid up. Get a firm quote before asking them to go ahead. Or ask them to ring you if it is more than the estimate they give you. I must admit it was lovely work they did.
Mike Green (ex-Arun) has just set up shop as a sail-repairer based at SMR in Brighton Marina. He might give you a competitive quote. Don't know his number but you can probably contact him via SMR.
