Hello all. I'm just getting to grips with a new to me Sabre 80 hp diesel engine and have come across a part that I'm trying to identify. Any manuals or parts diagrams that I've uncovered haven't given any details. The item in question is located about half way down on the starboard side of the block, beneath the fuel filters and has two wires connected. It fits to the block via a sort of elbow fitting and swivels about freely, as though it's loose. I'd like to know what it is before I investigate further, or possibly replace, given its rather cruddy appearance. Thanks in advanceIMG_20221202_120036.jpg

If the elbow fitting is the part with a grease nipple shown in your photo I think it is a tachometer driver for an electronic Rev counter. If you can take a clear photo showing the elbow fitting it may help confirm.

Mechanically driven tacho sensor that provides the pulse singnal, on my Sabre it is driven by the injection pump. Dead simple and generally very reliable.
