Re: Sorry, I just can\'t tell

I wear glasses already so I can see very clearly, and I see above all that you did not answer my question, so I will ask again for you to lead me through a possible scenario where the RYA, or you, causing havoc would achieve anything, as I have trouble seeing one.

Re: PADI

The grass is always greener...

I used to work with a couple of very experienced divers - they were very dismissive of the PADI certificate and I think had some alternative qualification which they regarded as superior (perhaps like the comparison between ICC and YM?)

The ICC is a ..

joke. In my opinion it is not worth the paper it is written on.

There may not even be a practical test and certainly little or no written test. Its only use is to satisfy the French regulations, and perhaps one or two other countries that pretend not to understand English.

The only tests worth while are those that have meaningful requirements and provide results relevant to the need.

Re: PADI

Funny you say that, our local divers say the same about them, each year there is around 5 flown to Plymouth with the bends. Most have done a cource in a inland flooded clay pit, then come down Cornwall with a bit of paper and dive into the ocean.
What happened to the simple comp crew, day skipper, yacht master, route?.
Learn the theory in your local Yacht club, night school, then get your experience and take the practical exam.
Is it the modern lets do it in one course for 2 weeks and learn the lot in one go?
