From where I see it the RYA is no longer needed, for they do NOT represent the majority of lesure skippers, as there arrogant attitude was displayed when talking or NOT talking to the IYT, on the simple idea of working TOGETHER.
They are excellent at talking the talk but they do not walk the walk.
As far as Im concerned they are working hand in hand with those bodies that wish to regulate what has allways has been a pleasure let alone leasure for ALL of us.
I am NOT going to pay any more money out than I am otherwise paying, for that is what it is all about MONEY AND POSITION, BACKDOOR and BACKHANDERS.
I for one will sail out and cause HAVOC if this is aiiowed to happen.
It is about time that WE all organize ourselfs and stop talking the talk like they seem to do so often, Remember there are thousands upon thousands of us all over this country, as you see I am very angry about all this, and I feel that if this is attempted the line has been crossed.
If the RYA had any salt at all it would state it's position clearly and by that I mean to ALL of us, but sadly I feel that won't be the case.
I will gladly responed to any veiws on this subject. RYA,MDL,CROWN,PREMIRE.who next.
Can anyone imagine this happening in france, spain, portugal, holland, norway ect.
Answer NO.

Quite the little anarchist aren't we? You should be careful talking or writing about things like backhanders unless you have concrete evidence which you would be prepared to offer in court one day.
As for your gripe might I suggest that you take a look at any and every other sport in the country. Try coaching soccer players without the approval of the FA, for instance, and see what happens. Imagine what would happen if an international and commercial organisation tried to set up in opposition to the Rugby Union, or the Lawn Tennis Association.
I agree with you that the RYA might have handled things better, but to threaten HAVOC is no way of putting things right. You have as much right to put your point of view as anybody, but with terrorism high on our agenda at the moment I suggest you cool down a bit before rushing into print.

Whoa! Bloody hell! You threatening court action now? Or accusing people of anarchy and terrorism, I do believe you may need a bit of your own advice here and you calm down. Just because the RYA is written in your insides. The man has evrey right to be angry and say things if he wants, it is still a free country even the RYA would be forced to admit that.

If you think this is still a 'free country' you must have just re-joined us from the 19th century. Count the number of EU and UK rules and regulations introduced since 1997 and then tell me if it is still a free country. Free to do what? Only yesterday somebody was called to account for writing something defamatory about somebody else on the net. Ask the Edinburgh parents who want to video their kids' school panto if it's a free country, etc. I could go on, but for fear of boring you I won't.

Re: Yes but

Probably the battle going on between RYA and IYT or something, just maybe, I'm not sure I normally stay well clear of these type arguments, can't be won, thats why I'm no longer a member of the RYA and am joining the CA, but I don't have a lot to do with any "yachting" organisations or even clubs for that matter, I'm a GDI, (God Damn Independant)

Ah

There is but it's silent as in Jack (effing) Straw. Then again I suppose quite a lot of people say that.

I take it all back - he's probably a very nice man.

I'm never bored by your writings, you are a well imformed person and have a lot to say, I normally listen, apart from when you go on about the RYA I am well aware of your prediliction for defending them. Even when they are wrong. But in this case, I was just defending the mans right to have a blast! I will not be drawn into discussions about the RYA, pointless, you know my feelings, very well.
