I see on previous threads that XW Rigging in Chichester service and sell Rotostay furlers. A good portion of my bearings recently cracked and i need some new ones. Does anyone know of any one in the Southampton / Portsmouth area who would stock them? A quick search on the net did not help much.
Any ideas?

you should be able to buy a pack of balls, and repack the bearing, i helped a friend repack his rotostay last year, i am sure it only cost him around £20-£25, just like new now..

The balls themselves are not too expensive, but the ball races are made out of solid gold - or ought to be at the price they are. One thing to look out for - I replaced balls and ball races last year, and my old system was abt 20 yrs old - I suspect the old ones were imperial measurement and the new ones were metric, as the pin that keeps the ball race together did not fit correctly. Best advice is to take the rotating parts down to them and make sure that you get a decent fit.

Hello.
£20 for kit which includes allen key and new grubscrew. May have a problem dismantling unit if 'thread-lock', compound has been used. In my case I had to core drill the grubscrew and re-tap. Works well now. Mike.

I used Torlon balls, obtained from a winch/block maker in Havant, these were wholly effective and far less prone to the UV degradation that plagued the original products.
For the upper swivel, Blue Diamond in Eastleigh provided the bearing for circa£1 as opposed to Rotostay's request for £74.
