Quick look - the 20kg Epsilon from Cactus is just over 20% cheaper than the 20kg Rocna from Amazon
If it works well without the optional hoop then it could take a big chunk of the Spade market.

At £340 for a 20kg Epsilon
A business doesn't have morals, it's not a human, it's there to make money for its shareholders.
I agree with Pye End. I avoid Amazon if I possibly can because they don’t pay taxes and their staff are mostly on less than minimum wage. My local chandlery will be paying taxes, business rates on their premises and proper staff wages, I very much doubt they’re making excess profits!
People in business have morals for sure, but the business itself does not. There are two ways to succeed in business, either be really good at what you do, or be ruthless. Amazon are both, which is why a lot of people hate them. Bezos rejected the wall street way and reinvested heavily and continues to reject splitting shares and other standard practices. Sure, he pays the minimum tax, but the company is incredible at what it does in almost every venture. You have a point about the reasons for the behaviour of some in many business, but do not accept it is all businesses by a very long way.
If potential customers were to develop more moral backbone and thought before getting out of their wallets, they could pressure the 'bad eggs' into doing the right thing.
However, as the nice marketing lady from Tesco said on the TED lecture, businesses ultimately rely on the sad truth that people just don't care. £ of the item overrides everything.
Looking at the bigger question of supporting large corporations or chandleries, I support whoever I get service from. Good service, or added value, gets my custom rubbish service and I never cross your threshold again....on Amazon. Do we think we should be supporting large corporations or our chandlerys ?
What is this Cactus of which you speak? Google only tells me about prickly plants. Its only £288.85 from cactus !

Yes, subject to the Epsilon being a match for the Spade in terms of performance. We won’t know that for another year until there is some real life experience with from the Epsilon. An anchor is essential safety kit and the specifications of chain, connectors, accessories and anchor is something that shouldn’t be heavily price influenced. When the saving on 20kg Rocna is over £100 + from Amazon it’s a no contest isn’t it ?
One of the reviewers on Amazon reckoned the anchor was supplied from the Barcelona depot and he had to pay extra charges on delivery. Check that out before committing to an Amazon purchase! When the saving on 20kg Rocna is over £100 + from Amazon it’s a no contest isn’t it ?
That would depend on what type of anchor you original one is.do i just get the same weight as the original one?
what size anchor would my boat need? do i just get the same weight as the original one?
I'm agnostic towards supporting 'swindlerys' - nor am I a fan of Amazon, but I certainly wouldn't pay more anywhere else. You could always ask your local chandlery to match an online price. At least that gives them the chance.
I paid 168 pounds, delivered to Ireland for my 20kg Rocna on Amazon last year...(it was a warehouse deal...)So far the most interesting thing about this "rocna prices" thread is no one has mentioned any price for a rocna ?
Amazon seem to be doing OK from it though![]()
That's a good price, what is meant by a 'warehouse deal'?I paid 168 pounds, delivered to Ireland for my 20kg Rocna on Amazon last year...(it was a warehouse deal...)
