I saw a Moody 38 at the boat show today. Have you looked at the way the keel is attached? I think you should. It is more important to have a well made boat than a nice looking microwave oven. All the best in your sailing adventures.

Beware of dark blue hulls. I took delivery of a navy blue hulled boat last November and even though it looks great , it shows up every scratch , especially when you bash into a pontoon - yep I've done it.

Yes, but who would want to end up on the same boat as you?

Seabugger<s>,,thats not very friendly and where did you get the idea that I would be on the thing? I've checked the post and I can't find any mention of me being on it. All I can say is that I hope you navigate better than you read!!!!!

Moody are only going to be producing the 47, 54,64 from now on they have taken the agency for Elan. A mistake by Moody I think so but I thought that when they stopped producing the 28!!!! and they are still here when others have fallen by the wayside.

Now, let's see....

Well... so your batteries don't go flat on the way to the Carib. I suggest some sort of self-steering OTHER than your autopilot... Someone will pick this up with a long thread to tell you which is their favourite.

Put back wproof speakers in the cockpit - listen to full (48tapes) LOR on way to Carib.

Fishfinder rather than sonar, so meals are dealt with on way to Carib.

You were joking about spares... fanbelt, impeller, filters ?

Rod and lines to go with fishfinder.

Pushpit mounted gas-fired barbeque.

Non-slip carpets, the washable, soak-up-water type, throughout (NOT to please her, but to preserve the floor for resale value, and nice underfoot).

At least two more anchors, Bruce 16kg and Spade 100.

Wind thingys for sending draught down into boat.

Mosquito and midge screens for all holes in superscupper.

Double-skinned awning.

SCUBA kit for clearing lines, setting anchors and a/f'g.

Gas detector ( !!! hee hee !!! )

Two large Nigel Calder books, use for pressing exotic Carib. flowers if not req'd elsewhere.

TeachYourself navigation books.

One AA Book of the Road, for navigating around UK.

That should help to keep you going for a while.

from an earlier post this week you really ought to replace the buzzbar with a gold plated one
which would coincedentially go with your proposed colour scheme even if it's unlikely to be seen!
however, on reflection, this is about what to add and if we start on 'what to replace with what' we could be hear a lot longer......
