Why do we need Hi-Res images on YBW, apart from the hassle of the poster's need to re-size.

Expect to see your photos copied and published without you permission. Low res images are not accepted by the remaining hard copy media.

I refer Neeves to the Ts&Cs. By joining the forum you give permission.

Clause 5 - Intellectual Property
5.1Future Plc. reserves the right to re-use any submission to the Forum of ybw.com in any format or media and in such ways as YBW sees fit. Users waive their moral rights to object to any derogatory treatment, or to be identified as the author of the submission in question.

Apologies

I was not suggesting YBW would use images, or not - but if the images are in a 1mb format and can be lifted by anyone, someone nefarious (say like....me) then giving permission to YBW is one thing - allowing others to use the images might be construed as 'not quite the same'.

Is YBW going to initiate legal proceedings against me, would they know......

Correct me if I am wrong.

Jonathan

I've only just looked at your image, above, Plum. Lovely - but it does not quite fit my knowledge base - could you start a thread on anchors and post your Hi Res images - maybe I could use them.

Recall - allowing YBW to use script is one thing, allowing them to use your images fits in with that, allowing me to take your images (an image is worth a thousand words) but not acknowledging either you nor YBW would be .....dishonest. I'll continue to re-size mine.

That's the problem.

I'd like to think that in the unlikely opportunity to use my images YBW might approach me - I'm not so sure about others. I have found that some people argue about some of my posts - but later see the light and then quote what I have said as being their original thought.

My Boomerang was published as open source - some one copied it, took the drawing and made exactly to the drawing - and said it was their novel and original idea. And I had simply modified one from Osacalutti - just one facet of electronic media.

Why limit yourself .... get a free Photoi Host site such as IMGUR and you are then free to post any size you want literally ...

Example of same photo from IMGUR :

with 7 steps of scale to this :

I don't understand why the forum software does not automatically resize photos if they are too big? I am sure the software must have that option. I use a resizing app, but from many other posts it is obvious that others have difficulty with this.

Reads like the DIY charter of a residents association written by the Chairman who was once a shop steward in the local bakery.

Did you take that big photo with a potato? Or is that just a very low res photo stretched out to fill more of the screen?

Very funny ....

The photo was taken with my Samsung phone .... and it was just picked at random from my account on IMGUR. It was to illustrate size not whether it was HD or not.... the large is as uploaded from the phone to IMGUR.

Is this better ?

Often we see older posts on this forum which are missing formatting because the forum software has been upgraded so many times since they were originally posted. We also see threads that are missing images because the poster ran out of space for attachments, so deleted oldest ones - now anyone viewing the older threads can't see the pics that were posted. This is why I'd much rather trust Imgur for these purposes.

You can't be sure that they won't go the same way as Photobucket but MrGrimm, the founder of Imgur, promised that it would always allow hosting for these purposes and he's succeeded so far.

You can imbed images directly into posts using this BBcode:

The size limit may have increased in the recent changes, but there still is one. I had to resize some photos the other day in order to post them.

I dislike the use of pics hosted elsewhere. On this and other forums I frequently find it annoying that older images are so often missing because they had been hosted elsewhere. (Why is it that it's usually the most useful images that are gone? )

I also have Photobucket account - a Legacy Account ... but PB is well known to turned a bad side to its 'clientele' .... so often account holders like myself find our links to forums blanked out

IMGUR - we all accept that if we use free service - that privacy of the image is limited - but IMGUR do state clearly in their T&C that they will not and do not pass identity or personal data. Of course advertising and browser use as with near all sites regardless of subject does get passed on.
IMGUR has its quirks - but so far after a lot of use - I am happy enough.

Lost images from Hosted .... that would mostly be Photobucket where they tried forcing us to pay exorbitant fees .... and limited Legacy Accounts such as mine.
Of course if someone was to use a 'File Hosting' instead of Photo Host site - then its inevitable it would be lost.
