Yes, although of the two people I know (in their thirties) who've had it, one was very ill for a week but now seemingly recovered, but the other is still in hospital after nearly three months with serious and permanent damage to his kidneys and other organs. It's not a binary question of survive unscathed or die.

British Marine have tweeted confirmation from an MP that boats are included in the places that are open for overnight stays

If you're interested in the facts and figures, More Or Less (R4) is worth following. The other day they mentioned that of the 75-85 age group, one in two hundred people have already died of Covid. Quite chilling when you think of it in those terms.

That excellent programme is worth following at all times. However your 'if' is apposite, I get the impression that many posters would rather have a fact free rant or make up their own 'facts' to support their prejudices and/or preconceptions.

It was good to hear that the BBC has extended the current series in light of demand.

That's about 19,000 deaths. Leaving 26,000 others.

Consider New York State, about 1 in 600 of the whole population. 1600 deaths per million.

Bearing in mind that many had underlying complaints, quite a few in that age group would have died anyway. Does it say what the excess death figure is?

I'd have to listen again, but some of the preconceptions people have do seem to be at odds with the facts. For example, the average number of years of life lost is 11- which rather puts paid to the idea that most people were on the verge of dying. What the program stressed was that if someone is already c.80 years old, they probably have quite a few years left to go. Life expectancy of an older person is not the same as the average lifespan for all ages- something that is quite interesting when you think about it, but perhaps not immediately obvious.

You could explain it with an anecdote though. Most of us will know a few people in the 75-85 age group. I'm sure there are lots in sailing clubs all over the country. These people are not all at death's door, many of them are living quite full lives.

Another issue is co-morbidity: it could be assumed that anybody with an underlying health condition is about to peg it anyway. But again, this isn't really true. Most older people will have picked up a variety of health issues over the years and these are not in themselves a death sentence.

Am I blind or is it really difficult to get daily new cases data for individual counties, where the action is now? I see countless total cases maps from different sources, but that's not much help four months after the pandemic started...

Did you read your own graphic?
That was MARCH.
Total deaths up to the end of March, 2425.
Since then, another 40,000.
A lot of people with their heads in the sand assuming the age distribution is still the same as for March.
Here's the age distribution of COVID-19 deaths for Scotland, up to 3pm today.

His graphic said "Four out of five over 70" and this one says "Nine out of ten over 65", which seems broadly in agreement. Do you have very different figures for England?

The death rate is still about 1 in 60 if deaths are around 50 a day but about 3000 new cases. So still much deadlier than flu.

So do only the aged or vulnerable get it or is there some other factor? Its good that not so many get it right now, but if no effective vaccine then most of us will eventually get it

Naughty! You could attribute your source and take the time to understand that the data was issued last Wednesday and refers to the previous weekend.
As a 73 year old I prefer the idea that >76% of the dead were older than me. Another interesting point is that the gender split of deaths in Scotland is 50/50.
