Please recommend me a training course/provider

Hi all.

A bit of background - I've had my boat about 4 years now, have done a hundred plus hours on it and haven't ever done any formal kind of training. I recently moved from Brighton Marina to the busy Chi and feel now that it would be a good time to learn more about it all to boost my confidence and the safety of my family.

Level 1 powerboat seems to be the one but would this be a little too basic do you think?

I would have thought level 1 PB a bit of a low start for someone with 4 years of boat ownership behind them. PB L2 at least, IMO.

Agreed, you won't learn much from PB1 now, it's very basic stuff. PB2 is probably best for you with a view to maybe doing Dayskipper theory next winter.

PB2 or maybe a tailor made couple of days to cover the bits you're specifically uneasy about. I can vouch for David at 5star or Julie at Mendez, both are really good instructors.

But he does not teach the Powerboat scheme. He is a Cruising Instructor power which means he teaches Helmsman and Day Skipper practical courses only.

I have already spoken to the OP and advised Powerboat 2.

If you want to do Day Skipper theory on line I used Chichester Maritime - very good.
