More interestingly, does anyone know what happened to the OP?

He used to be a prolific poster, but I haven't seen him around for ages.

I know this is an old one but that story, Ive heard a million times! If they were speakin Welsh, it was because their first language is Welsh, thats what they speak in Wales west of Corwen!

West of Corwen there be dragons should be marked on the map. All those residents of Cynwyd with the same name. WAY TOO many married their cousins! Only speaking welsh was the least of their handicaps.

Corwen a hotbed of Anglo hippie immigrant 'smallholding' (LSD and Afghan carpet production) back in the day

I do not recognise the union rag as representing Wales in any way. Much the same way as I regard jug ears our prince.

Can you point out which is Wales' bit of the Union Jack, as opposed to the English, Scottish and Irish bits,?
You really need to keep up you know. It's all very well trying to score clever-clever points off people but when you don't have a leg to stand on it just makes you look plain silly.

If you knew your history (!) you'd know that the Cross of St George represents Wales in the Union Flag because at the time the Union Flag was adopted Wales was still part of England...

Oops!

That one was just plain, unnecessarily self-inflicted pal...

I could be wrong but seem to remember that only part of Wales was for some time a part of England. However, as I said, Wales as it is today is not represented in the flag and that's how many Welsh see it, one of our friends in particular keeps bleating on about it but, as she's a remoaner who states she would rather be governed by EU than UK, that's to be expected.

P.S. Various sites dispute your viewpoint and have just found this on Wales Today -

......the Acts of Union in 1536 and 1542 actually made us a country again. They reunited the Principalities and the Marches into one country, Wales. They gave us a defined border with England and separate, different legal and administrative systems.

If this is correct, Wales became a country and it pre-dates the creation of the Union Flag as we know it today. Time we had a new flag with Wales represented but Ireland removed and perhaps Scotland as well - if the extremists get their independence:).
