Re: Alternative code

Good point. This needs more thought.

OK, how about using the RNLI to perform a kind of Solent Traffic Control function. They could borrow the facilities just up the road at Swanwick. They could allocate a depth to all vessels using the Solent. Maybe this could be used as another way to get more cash out of the marine user. You could bid for "slots" on popular routes, say between Hamble and Yarmouth. There's a whole new sub-industry to be created here. I could imagine, for example, Sunsail might buy out all the peak hour slots out of Port Solent whilst Freddy Leaker could start a new "no-frills" charter line operating out of Hasler and specialising in 3.00am departures to that new marina they're planning at Ventor on the IoW. This would open up a whole new market for boaters who never thought they could afford to go sailing. Soon the south coast of the IoW would be flooded with 18-30 types interested in nothing but sailing around the Solent creating loads of wash and flashing their boobs at "proper" sailors who would be outraged at their behaviour and write to the yachting press to complain. The mainstream media would see what was going on and commision a "fly on the boat" documentary called "Solent Uncovered" that would feature lots of irresponsible young sailors who'd be out at all night mega regattas returning at dawn to throw up all over the pontoon.

I think I'm on to something here....

Re: Alternative code

Perhaps they should maybe be allowed a couple of knots for every boob uncovered? Might not notice the wash then!
