Here’s one for the forum though…..I want change the sump drain bolt to a banjo and hose for easy oil changes via suction pump etc…. Any tips?

Materials? Armoured hose? Spec? Access is super tight to sumps once back in so will have to “valve” the loose end of the hose

ive put dolly wheels on 2 of these pallets so I can wheel engines about! ?

cool boat and easy project :) ill keep a watch to gain motivation from you ;) :)

On the sump pump if you do wnat to go with a sump pump then its easy to just to do as lots of narrow boat engine have and ahand pump connected, i have seen them at time for sale.
But easier and cheaper is one of these

Oh for God sake. Whats with you taking good quality classic boats and then bodging them to make a rude buck? How about a bit less bodging and a bit more using in the hopes you do a propper job this time? And why that boat of all boats? Of that age genre you're more of a Tony Danza kind of fella rather than Don Johnson. Should have got yourself a nice Fairline.

i agree on the boat choice from Bruce ha ha

Got a photo of the turbos?

Dragon's Breath or any similar fallout remover ought to be effective?
Don't think anyone's tried this and I certainly haven't but it should work in theory because the gunge is the same iron oxide..

You go straight to the top of the class! 10 mins and done ? No before picture damn it but it was pretty bad

Difficult to believe the hours looking at the state of the engines especially the coolant header tanks.
Turbos may be inspected by a specialist and refitted if okay or refurbished at less cost than new.

ordered new before taking these off. Not worth the faff. Look at how corroded the body is in pictures above!

Got down to injectors tonight. Copious sealant usage as you can see ? Made up a vacuum fine suction tube with my wet vac and have started cleaning everything careful around the area.

My pile of bits is getting bigger. Got to do it all again on the other one ? just oil cooler and sump pan to drop then the cleaning, clearances, replacing, wiring etc begins!

Thinking about hoses……don’t want to paint them green….look better in black. None seem to need replacing so what to do with them? Spray them with rubber paint? Clean the up somehow? Any suggestions

We spent hours in mid-winter outside my mates garage cleaning off the green paint from the hoses using acetone and standard domestic scotchbrite pads. I remember it being very cold and a bit of a job but it was well worth it as they looked a lot better when we put them back together. The cost of replacing all hoses was a bit steep back then (2008) and they were actually in fine fettle underneath the cracking paint so it wouldn’t have been money well spent.

Oil coolers and sumps left to remove then the actually doing some good can start!

Great project being done properly. Love the picture updates.
I reckon it looks like a keeper this one. Hope you gave her a valentine's present this morning?! (The boat that is, not the Mrs!)

what is Dragons Breath ?
It's a soapy PH neutral product used by car detailers to dissolve rust particles embedded in alloy wheels and paintwork. All the major vendors like Autoglym make it, sold under different names Troll's Breath etc. Works like magic.
