I think a mechanical engine with stand alone electronic throttles is the best combo. I had 61a’s with Morse KE 4 controls. Just brilliant…..bloody expensive but brilliant.

Clearly there’s a well placed fear around ECU engines but such is the way of things. All you can do is cross fingers.

Im doing that a lot currently whilst the head goes off to the experts ?? The head is bloody heavy to carry about ??

coolers and sumps to go and that’s the stripping down done. Not bad seeing as they’ve been out the boat 5 days
No wonder the NHS is short of PPE i here ten masks make good fuel filters.

Well done on this project Mr. G, you have been establishing yourself as a big project guy over the last years, and always a good read, even if those mates of yours from North Wales take the pi$$ sometimes :)

I was wondering after the thread from VolvoPaul about part availability for Volvo’s, how are you going with this issue?

Hi Andie……No supply problems thus far thankfully but you never know!

I just ignore Seacock and the other fella. One could have an argument in an empty room and the other couldn’t find their way out of an empty room! Leave you to decide who’s who ?

Surely if either one of them were in a room then it wouldn’t be empty.....
I do apologise Croc.

One could start an argument in a room….alone……with no one else to argue with….hence they would argue with themselves.

The other is a dumbass…..mind you….they didn’t buy and fit 19 plotters to one boat so perhaps have some sense of direction ?

Whilst I agree that electric handbrakes are solving a problem that wasn’t there I think the majority of modern cars have drive-by-wire throttles that rarely go wrong. I’d happily have it on a boat as it makes throttle and gear engagement so much lighter.
"rarely"?
some smilies missing here I see
throttle bodies and actuators and what not??? must be on my third in my crappy bmw...

You havent had the pleasure of 20 calls an hour on WhatsApp seeking comfort for his transgressions. Tony Danza here gets so excited over his addiction it's like a new Grandmother showing pics of her first born round the office. Ever seen a pretty new born? No, they're ugly! I cried when my daughter was born. She looked like my Mother in Law.

Back on topic…..the infamous sump is off. Took ages to gently prise it free only to find the engines aren’t high enough ? Removed the pickup and dip support bracket and managed to get it out tilted on its side.

The old gasket hadnt been removed but of course…much sealant used! 2 hours with a blade and now surface is ready for re install of my 2nd hand sump.

if I can be bothered I might peel the fibreglass off. I bet there’s nothing wrong with it! Progress will slow now as got to do some proper work for a bit ?

I see you are saving the old oil and coolant for re-use. Good man (y) It's not like it will be seen after the tart up. And after only 180 engine hours there's still at least 20 hours use out of them.

Disposing responsibly….I’m not on a river mooring where some people just sling stuff overboard

That would get you into serious do-do here. Harbour master doesnt take kindly to loosing Blue Flag status on his beaches and the local mussel farmers might bury you under a jetty, they're not the type to be trifled with. It's much easier to just pour it into Seastoke's fuel tanks after siphoning a commensurate amount of diesel out. It's not like he goes anywhere so he'd notice and it keeps his Eberspacher agent on first name terms with him.

It must be amazing to be able to work on those engines with out of the boat and able to walk all around them or even sit on a chair to do work
