New build Sanlorenzo SL96A 2024

Nice bucket Mr G, and I dont like anything about Parabolica's picture :)eek:, but as Bouba says there is a lift up door on front face of console. It's surprisingly ok size-wise in there, and the WC is set down below deck level.

Here's a pic grabbed off the net. Ours will be a bit tidier - won't have those battery switches etc. Not expecting this loo to be used a lot but it's there just in case, mainly for women, as in, I don't think any guys will be told it even exists :)

My eyes are hurting at seeing the raw fibreglass. As my old boat building mentor told me, the customer should love the lines and never see the joins!

The overall look is stunning though, and I am loving the addition of the steering wheel controls. Please tell me the trim tabs are on paddles!

Please do ensure you get finisher panels in there to complete the aesthetic properly, but also so it's easier to clean. Flow coated grp is for hulls only imo.

The Samson post ( or alternative ) would need beefing up for me so it can be truly towed everywhere.
You see a lot in the Med being proper towed .I have seen plenty of pretty substantial chase boats with extra strong fwd Samson posts or similar paraphernalia .
Just a nice thing to have to be able to get in close , explore small coves , beaches , runs ashore ( with all the major players on board ) from far ish out .You know it’s gonna start unlike the Williams .You know you all are gonna make that dinner reservation ashore with dry arses .

A lot of ribs have a tiny room with a fold up door / seat built into the centre console .Some with windows at the side or front .Smoked glass of course or blinds .Adds light into a claustrophobic space . Eg getting changed .

An alternative design is a hard hull ( no tubes rib thingy ) with a thick huge D shaped over exaggerated rubbing strip .This is none damaging to contact with the mother ship . Harder hull means a substantial Samson or equivalent can be glassed in for permanent towing .

But we are morphing into “ limousines “ used by SY s . It’s just it has its own berth twixed the two bros boats so it’s not like it has to fit anywhere.

Theres a whole hall of these at Genoa .

Bimini for shade ? How does that work ? If you say nip off to explore the Magderlena islands . Someone white as sheet pale skinned has just flown in from Blighty ? They wont thank you for the red legged partridge look by dinner time assuming they only daub up there face + upper arms . Hats will disappear over the side remember.

Is there anything which you just go into the shop and say lovely, I’ll have one in blue please….. :)
Like one of these ?
Evo T2, a chic and compact tender for superyacht

This is an indicative example of a small something else other than a rubber dingy , sorry rib ( must get my nomenclature right on day 😀) to tow and share in Antibes .

Jet on this one for getting in real close too.

That’s a lovely thing but with the separate driver’s compartment it’s more suitable for fully crewed ops where the tender is only ever driven by staff. Suspect jfm wants to do a bit of driving plus letting friends and families have a go - hence the ultra deep vee hull on the Ribeye and the very forgiving and non-marking tubes, plus the uber-reliable Yam o/b with easy to clear prop.

Very nice RIB - it sure does look very high quality from the pictures. I imagine that the U-seating at the bow is intended for 4 people. If that is the case, then I thought the second set of hand rails at the bow seems to be placed a bit far aft (see red oval in the picture below). Wouldn't it be more comfortable for passengers with a few more (or wider) hand rails? This is a genuine questions as I have never been onboard a RIB of this caliber, so I don't know if it's needed (or if the hand rails are actually cleats?)

I know some people in the Med prefer Williams or other jet tenders because they are concerned about outboard propellers and potential accidents if there's people swimming near the boat. This is probably more relevant for your Novurania/tender, but do you share that concern and are you planning to cage the prop somehow?

I agree with you - the raw fibreglass isn't nice, even if well finished. The Cobra ribs WC compartment is much better - has internal mouldings. But every boat forces compromises and I can just about live with this one 😐

It will initially be built without trim tabs, in hope the engine trim is enough. Prior boats in this series generally don't have tabs and they are ok, I'm told, and seem to be on the plenty of youtubes that Ribeye have posted on their channel. If they are needed they will be retrofitted and I'll also retrofit the paddle versions of this isotta wheel.

J, is there going to be a bodgeflow TM on the yam?
don't dissappoint me please
Yes, but there is a glitch. The Yamaha tick box option BodgeFlow kit is supplied by the excellent Reverso, and they are on long back order, not available by this summer, so I'll do it this winter. It's a nice kit: a water hose is run through the rigging tube (there is a pre prepped space for it in the grommet) and T'eed to the engine flush, inside the engine cowl. Then there is pump that feeds water to flush the engine, from the on board fresh water tank. I would add a 1 minute timer, so you just hit a button on the dashboard and walk away.

For this season I can just connect a hose pipe to the normal flush point on the side of the engine, as i did with my previous yamaha - flushing takes only a minute.

I don't think anyone sensible uses a Samson post for towing and I very much doubt you have seen this. I wouldn't do it. Snatch loads far too high, and as the bow of the tender rises when it planes, the tow rope rubs the tubes. Samson post is strictly for mooring at dock/marina. Everybody does towing by a single or usually triple hull attachment, below the tubes.

Each to their own on chase boat design, because there are so many use cases. My bother and i want a rib not a hard boat with D fender, because it is kinder on the mother ship and anyway much more useful for day boating/swimming/beaches/scuba/getting wet and stuff. We are less interested in limousine tender use. You're right that we could have a bigger limo job, given that I have bought a 24m x 6m x 20 years berth to put it in (which btw costs 4x the price of the RIB itself :):)), but we just want a RIB and we want to be around 8m for weight reasons. Personaly choice and perhaps not logical choice for other use cases.

You're right about sun protection - of course people need to take more care on this than on the mother ship. We just have the T-Top thing that you can see in the render, plus a rear bimini extension for slow speed/at anchor use - this is two carbon poles, almost level with the transom, and a trapezoidal bit of fabric whose front edge connects to aft edge of T Top. That's all we can do, and folks will have to take care.

Each to their own, but I wouldn't have that thing if you gave it to me. Neither fish nor fowl imho.
