I have just decided to buy a different boat. Instead of this modern planing boat, i've decided to chop it in for a boat that looks like a plastic pastiche trawler from the outside and teak-contiboard-city on the inside. Furthermore, this vessel is blessed with near-magical mechanical and hydrodynamic qualities, again.

Although i've made the decision (which was most certainly not based on a decent part-ex offered by a fairly desperate vendor with a load of stock) I nevertheless delight in displaying a modern, consultative and careful-thinking image by discussing the idea with everyone else, as if i haven't made any decision at all. Of course, i will vehemently argue and discard any and all opinions from those of you who even slightly disagree with my chosen path, even if that means everyone, resulting in my view prevailing and everyone agreeing with me. Oops! I mean, this is a tentative preliminary discussion thread, and I haven't decided anything at all.

Any views?

Clearly you are absolutely right, and everyone else has misunderstood everything.
Also they know nothing about boats so it's just as well that you know all that needs to be known.

The other good thing is that you obviously have a very open mind on your likely choice of boat so it is useful to have a debate on the pros and cons of any potential candidate.

Could we have one or two - preferably only one at a time - controversial fact about the new proposed/intended boat for which you quote no supporting evidence, however you should allude to having the evidence in any case and being willing to post it "later"....

No,refuse to try and offer advice as I was obviously not standing next to the engines taking fuel usage figures and just made up everything I said the last time I foolishly got involved in a certain thread.
Easy tiger!

Mat,
this is not a decision you should take with out first weighting up all the options,
Is it bigger than your neighbourers

Does it have a bigger booze cabinet than your present boat.

Does it have more fridges,

Does it look newer.

Can you fit more people on it.

If yes to any or all of the above, then ask for a second opinion.

First and foremost of course, it flies. Yes, it literally takes off and flies just above the waves. I would simply reject any boat that didn't have this feature out of hand, no question. Which indirectly means that anyone who hasn't already bought one of these boats or about to buy one is a lower form of life, but i don't suppose you'd understand.

OK. So if nobody else is asking, I will.

What have you decided to buy, for which you are retrospectively seeking the views of this august (or was it November) body?

If it is a plastic pastiche trawler and presumably in the same league as the last, we are talking, Nordhaven, Flemming, Dutch steel .....

I give up. Give us a clue?

No, I'm afraid you have got old of the wrong end of the stick, as usual. It would be ridiculous for me to say that I'm always right: sometimes it's simply that you are wrong. As for boats, it is far from the case that I know everything. I'm learning new things all the time - although by implication of course, not from anyone with whom I disagree, such as you, for example.

Of course i considered the Akranoplan, but it is vastly inferior.

However, the point you raise certainly warrants me arguing this bit of the thread for about 42 more posts back and forth until it goes of the end of the screen and/or you give up the will to live.

Oh Dear tcm .... you gave me the first laugh of the day.

For the record I have not made up my mind and try to debate the issues. Sometimes in life this means that some cannot seperate those from their ego from the points under debate or their boat and that is too bad for them.

I do not know the answers, if I did, I would not be asking. However the best way to learn is to debate the points that are brought up and as usual I answer every point.

I remember some time ago very long thread in the order of 500 posts on jets .... yep that was me considering buying a Cara jet boat ... what a fierce debate that was ... did I buy the Cara? .... Nope.

However I have to discard such historic facts and bow to your wisdom that can read other's minds and instead of debating points just purely consist of cheap jibes.

It seems if you do not bow to greater wisdom of some of the old forum guard, if you dare to question, if you dare to point out your views on the topic ... then somehow that is a bum thing to do ... far better to doff you cap to the forum establishment and know your place and be liked. Never, ever start a continue a thread that may actually be about boating ... it offends too much.

Well, for the record I intend to carry on the same old way as before .... I like debating boating points on the boating forum .... even points that directly effect boats, such as their means of propuslsion or even their hull shapes .... sorry, i know that means trampling all over a lot of ego .... but someone has to do it :)

Anyway, I am now busy preparing my next campaign thread which is on the complusory fitting of stablisers to all planing boats .... why no one thought of that before I will never know!
