Of course !!

Just ask, but be prepared to walk away, or keep very quiet, do not speak first, after asking the question.

There may be a long pause, but hang it out. be brave.

Good luck,

Ooh yes. Even when tim es were good you could 5% off.
BA Peters are the main uk fairline dealers so may be able to do more than others. Someone said that you should specify the whole package rather than ask for a %age discount. Frexample, what about the extras? And do you have a mooring?

It seems to be just like buying a car. Supply & demand. Fairline manufacture boats which are ordered by dealers (such as BA Peters, Marine Sales, etc., as in the mags). Just as Ford manufacture cars and sell them through dealers.

If anyone orders too much, they need to shift stock and the more likely you are to get a bigger discount. I suspect that the dealers ae in competition with each other for stock from the manufacturers. So if BA Peters wants, say, 6 Phantom 46s in 2002, they've got to order them from Fairline in good time otherwise the other dealers will have alrady ordered Fairline's supply for 2002. Of course, if there's high demand, Fairline will try to increase output of that model.

Now if orders have already been placed for 2002 and there should be a recession, I reckon competition between dealers for a new lower demand will see bigger discounts offered. It could be interesting over the next few months.
