New Boat - all to get underwater lights!

I've just realised that's my 2011 SQ55 to the port of yours!

It was cool bumping in to you the night before you left EBY. My wife says thanks for the flowers :)

How was the trip back to Lymington? I'm planning a trip to Swanwick in the next week or two. Also, do you recall what total mileage, fuel burned, and time was?

Trip back was excellent - hardly a wave all the way and the vis was good - so different to when I took the SQ55 around where didn't see any land until Brighton. Amazing all the new wind farms in the Thames and all the activity with support ships etc. Took us exactly 8 hours and we burned 1700 litres of fuel - it was about 200 miles in all.

Settled in at Berthon and have been made very welcome - nothing has been too much trouble including moving berth so I could easily get the Williams off the stern.

Will post the pictures (wake shot) when my brother in law sends over the photos.

Delivery trip from Essex Boatyards to Lymington

Went to Essex on Good Friday. Spent the majority of the day moving all the personal stuff over. Peter from EBY arrived at just before 6:00 am on Saturday, I had the engines running and we were off.

Amazed at all the wind farm building in the Thames and all the support ships coming out of Ramsgate. We started off at 2000 RPM (approx 25 knots) to make good progress expecting that we would have to slow down if the weather came in but it didn't and we didn't touch the engines until we arrived off Lymington 8 hours and 1700 litres of fuel later.

Tried the Tender launch system and it is truly amazing - had the Williams in the water in 60 seconds - took longer to get it lined up and back on board but I expect practice will make it quicker.

Looking forward to a Summer of boating from Lymington.

That's fantastic Andrew... I'm glad you had a good trip back. Pete is a great skipper isn't he?

Great news that it's 200nm! That will put me within 300nm of attempting my Yachmaster Coastal when I take my boat to Swanwick with Pete in the next week or so.

Did you sit _in_ the tender as it lowered? I watched someone else do that and it looked very James Bond 'bad guy' :)

Pete is excellent - very knowledgeable and nothing is too much hassle.

Hope you have as calm a trip as we did.

No, not that brave but I am told it could cope with my weight.

What a coincidence! I've been looking at those for the past week (especially as theoretically you can transfer the waypoints wirelessly to it, so it really would be a backup).

Was it good?

Also, did you buy map cards for both systems, and which ones did you order for the Solent?

Excellent device - clear screen and OK I ordered the "S" as I am a mug for the best.

Purchased HEU001R - English Channel chart for the 78S - principal being that if the main system had a major failure it might damage the chart so best to have a complete backup.
