My pulpit brackets..

are mild steel, welded to stainless steel tubes. Fixed with mild steel screws, so I'm trying to drill down through the screw heads. Any helpful advice gratefully received, as it's taking forever!

A decent cobalt drill bit will help, try to keep a constant drilling pressure, but not to hard as the drill bit can seize and snap, THEN it'll get hard!
Make sure your going in square to head of the screw (have someone spot you if you have trouble with this)
