They should be called Marine Super Service . I ordered some deck hardware on Friday afternoon and have just taken delivery here in Portugal.

I don't agree so far... I ordered a bunch of stuff over a week ago and they eventually sent me an e-mail to say that 2 of the items (I ordered 2 of each item plus a load of other stuff) were out of stock despite the website saying that they were available at the time of ordering.

They have now ordered them from their suppliers and I can expect a 1-2 week delay. Ah... ok... that's inconvenient but I can live with that I suppose and get on with other jobs. Now it seems they aren't sending any of my order until those few bits arrive and I can't get on with the other jobs I need to do either cos I don't have what I need! If I'd known they weren't gonna send any of it I would have cancelled the whole order and bought it elsewhere. At least when Force 4 or others are out of stock of some items they send what they have at the time and the rest follows on later when they get it.

Have you asked them to send what they have in stock? I'm sure they would if you did, always had very good service from them...

Just to confirm, is it MarineSuperStore (based in Port Solent) you're referring to, and not a similarly named place?

I've always had top notch service from MarineSuperStore, however a similarly named place has had a lot of bad press with the kind of thing you're explaining.

No, not the siMilarly named place. And also no, I hadn't asked them to send the rest of the order seperately, it was only after a week of waiting had already passed that I realised that they weren't sending it. Every other online chandlery I have dealt with to date has automatically sent the stuff I ordered (that they had in stock) and any outstanding items within a couple or 3 days without having to be specifically asked to do so.

Sounds like their service might have a blip (or is going the way of the dodo?). When I've ordered stuff in the past, they've always been really good about informing me immediately about any hiccups.
A real pity.

Hey I know that, and I wasn't having a real pop, I was just sharing my experience in response to someone else doing the same thing. I've used 'em before with no probs but am less likely to do so again. When something is listed as being in stock I would expect it to be so and therefore available for immediate despatch. That is, after all, one of the criteria that helps one decide whether to proceed to checkout or to look elsewhere isn't it?

I've always found them really good. They even shipped some stuff out to the Azores for me.

Great service.

In their defence it's not a warehouse, everything is on the shelves so although it may be "in stock" it might not be where they left it or may have been stolen. When they attend SIBS the shop is pretty much empty so I'm amazed they manage so well usually. Not much comfort to you but it may help to explain the stock level inconsistency.

Oredered a GPS from them last Friday, it arrived on the Monday but FedEx gave it to my neighbours as I was out, it's still with my neighbours as they are now out  I want to play with my new toy... :( They've probably gone abroad for half term,

Ahem.... I watched "To Catch a Thief" last night

Better than crummy Royal Mail/Parcelfarce and their insistence on returning things to the depot, making you wait 24 hours before collecting. The number of times I've been at home waiting for a package, only to hear the letterbox go and when I check there's a "Missed you" card telling me to collect in 24 hours... Grrr!

Agreed, I've had to jump in the car before and chase the Posty down  They do a mile in 5 minutes these boys, couldn't believe how far he had got

I once had words with the supervisor at the depot after yet another instance of the postman putting a note through the letterbox and not bothering to knock/ring the doorbell. He questioned why would they want to spend more time writing out notes and carrying the items instead of offloading them. Indeed, I wonder that, too, but the evidence would suggest otherwise.
Delivery men in vans I can see, as they apparently can't be bothered to rummage through the back of the van and they would rather just write out a quick note.

I once encountered a delivery man parked outside my door as I was leaving. I asked him if he was here to deliver something to my address and he replied, "no". Lo and behold, when I return a couple of hours later there's a note from him saying he missed me. Scum.

Could be worse, Yodel won't let you collect from depot until the third time they miss you, and don't leave a note on the first two goes. I've been home all week before and am certain the first two goes never even happened!

This is what happens when you employ the brain dead it would appear that one of the criteria for the job is a complete lack of common sense an example of this is when I moved house I had my mail redirected the individual in the sorting office placed the new address label across the recipient name as well as the address, now there is five names in the house. Let’s play who’s the letter for.
