Looks like an interesting day ahead ....

You put in 2 gybes today ... I didn't do any ....

You sailed west during the easterly - I continued south until the wind backed ...
I did sail into less wind, but that is the gamble isn't it - less wind & better angle, or more wind and longer course ...

I'm still behind Trev - so my nerves are ok for now!!

I've also spotted another place you gained. Your track South from the islands was lifted much more than mine. Its a bit difficult to measure at the scale needed to see it but you gained 10 - 15 miles as a result of the lift but probably lost some (smaller) distance by going slower.

These position ratings are like Will o' the Wisps. One minute they are there, the next they have gone.

loosing it now though - lost 4 places in 2 hours ... (not too bad I suppose) .... just trying to get into the more NE wind further west .... problem is you have to go more west than south to get in - at what point do you turn south .....?!?!

I can't work this next bit out at all. The wind fans out so you get pushed off course whichever way you go. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think I'm just going to keep the way I'm going for now. I'm reeling in a place or two continually, and wind's look like they are increasing ahead of me.

I've had the autopilot on, did a bit of fishing, cooked a meal, had a sleep, read a few books, listened to some music, posted on ybw using a satellite phone modem. Getting very bored now, need a big engine or two! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The next hour or 2 looks very interesting. I lost a lot of places today going west but reeling them back in now. A new speed record of 22 knots /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

SWMBO has let you back on then?

Mine wants to know how long this game is going to last.

heh - SWMBO's aunt and uncle came round this evening - they were amazed at how long it's been going on for so far ..... they thought it'd be quite quick .... then I told them it's running till July next year .... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
