KHM dashing around the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour in a black rib with blue light flashing - I've never noticed them there before and I thought they were rather rude and offhand. The volunteer harbour patrol generally do a good job and are polite rather the the KHM who were barking orders (thankfully not at me). Is this a new level of officialdom or have I just missed them before? At the time I witnessed them their was no large traffic entering or leaving port.
what were they barking ... at the only time I have seen that happen is when a leisure craft has moved further into the main channel (away from the small boat channel) than they perhaps should.

Leaving Pompey on Saturday just as they were getting ready for the King's gun salute. Approaching Gosport ferry berth, the KHM Dory blocks my way and tells me to head north because I'm entering an exclusion zone. Turn north, few minutes later the KHM rib blocks my way and tells me to turn around because I'm entering an exclusion zone. Had words, "which way am I supposed to go?". "South" he said. Turn around again and head back south. KHM Dory again remonstrates. Told him to talk to his mate in the rib. Carried on out of the harbour and began a very pleasant sail west...
God alone knows what they were doing.

Yeah we got trapped in the same spot for quarter of an hour waiting for the salute. Was a bit of fun, not often we try and hover in a small space with 20 other boats
