Yes - up the Solent last year passing an anchored American warship, my trusty Magellan which has always served me well suddenly started bleeping plaintively that it was lost, and could find no satellites.

Cursing at the thought the GPS had packed up at the beginning of my trip, I was relieved when when the visitor was about half a mile astern it all came back to life again.

The visitor was still there on my return, and the same thing happened again. Never seen it happen around our own Navy.

We've also never chosen to have anything other than our towed Stowe log (which the nice people told us how to repair for 75p). We haven't actually used it for a while.
GPS is down below, so not much used for speed during racing, but we 're pretty good at judging whether speed has improved or not.
