I've been using an in mast furling main for a couple years now and when I reef it's by guesswork, where as when you slab reef you use cringles, so you can know how many reefs you've put in. Does anyone know how to calculate a way of marking the boom so I know how much sail to furl in for 1, 2 and 3 reefs? Just so it's quick and easy!

Cheers

Steve.

With rollers on both you have complete flexibility.

It really depends on the rig but with a mast head rig, the genny is quite powerful. Therefore, reef the genny as normal. Then reef the main down to ballance.
