How to Upload Videos

When I try open upload a video or a sound file, from my phone to a post, using the "Attach Files" function, they are rejected as being too large. What am I doing wrong ?
What happens if you click the three little dots on the tool bar and select inset media

Ok, so I have discovered how to navigate that path to a point where it allows me to insert media from a list of approved sources, so I understand from this that I can insert videos, for instance, that have already been published, and that if I wanted to insert a video clip that I have recorded on my phone I would have to first upload it to one of the apps listed?

As above, yes, I think you are correct.

The video files are too big to be loaded; by putting them on YouTube, for example, the site can run them from there without getting involved in huge file sizes. I have found YouTube pretty simple to work with, you can keep video private it you wish so it is not available for viewing generally.

I believe the replies from VicS, Just Sayin' and Doug748 have put me on the right track. Thanks all!
P.S. I liked the video from Just Sayin.

Harry, I scrolled down to see what else you had there and was attracted by the lightship restoration video. Back in the early eighties there was a lightship in seemingly good condition in Wexford Harbour which was open to the public, and contained a maritime museum. I subsequently saw it in Kilmore Quay, but at some time , late 80s or 90s-Noughties, obviously to avoid hull maintenance costs, they had the bright idea of sitting it in a hole on the quayside and encasing it in concrete up to the waterline.
The last time I visited Kilmore Quay, about ten years ago, all that remained was its footprint in the concrete, where it had been broken up, down to the waterline. What a shame!

I have loaded a few short videos into YouTube, which was quite simple. It was quicker when I filed them in a compatible form from MovieMaker.
