In a couple of weeks, mother-in-law and father-in-law are coming up and wishing to stay in Southampton as father-in-law has been treated on one of those high speed formula 1 power boat rides! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif Was wondering if any of you knew of good hotels / B&B in the area you could recommend? Much appreciated.

For economy the Travel Inns are a known standard, and there is one at the bottom of town not far from O Village. Otherwise do a Google on Southampton accom.

Hope they have a great time!

You never know, I once had a small motor cruiser in Ramasgate and my mum(60 then) arrived with her boyfriend saying they would like to do somthing diffrent !

So it was fish and chips on the beach with drinks and night on the boat, the boat never moved anywhere but they had a great time telling all thier friends about that night ! Maybe its the rocking action ?

Mother and Father in Law have been down a fair bit to us and have tried most National chains but prefer the Novotel of them all in Southampton. I think its due to proximity to West Quays and us in OV, they always comment on staff and cleanliness.

More up market but a very nice treat, the Harbour Lights in Southampton or even better and if they drive, would be Montague Arms, Beaulieu, definitely worth a visit to their restaraunt anytime, any excuse!! Paul

Hi for a special treat it needs a special hotel - how about the Grand Harbour(De Vere) right on the waterfront - if you are lucky they might get to see one of the cruise ships come in!
