Was the navy on twice last night?

I watched a bit of HMS Manchester on chanel 5.
It must be frustrating having to cover such a large patrol area.
It's good that they caught one boat but how many get past?
How many got past in the 4 days it took to escort the boat back to land?

The turd in the sink was a nice touch.

That's one of the many things the Nimrod did very well, until Camerons' idiots inflicted damage on the UK Goering could never have dreamed of.

The weapon fit is just not designed to sink something of that size!!! It would however scare the c**p out of anyone in it. It's like the problem of how do you sink a diesel submarine on the surface? Torpedoes would go under it!!

I suspect even when surfaced a submarine draws a similar amout to a lot of surface shipping so unless torpedoes are no longer effective against surface targets I'm not sure why one wouldn't work.

Anyone else watch HMS Cornwall trying to sink a "fast boat" on ch4 last night, slightly embarrassing

I watched it and found it grossly embarrassing. What a waste of public money with all of that fire power wide of the mark. My perception in watching was "would anyone else like a go?" Even the axe and gallon of petrol seemed to take an age to consign the vessel to the bottom.

Please don't shoot me down in flames. I'm a big supporter of our military. Those scenes didn't do anyone any favours.

A moral boosting event for the cameras. The crew have a good time shooting every weapon under the sun at it. The cameras get footage of guns shooting. The boat is 'unsinkable' in it's construction, so even with a six foot hole in the bottom it would only be awash.

Calm down, go and lie down in a dark room for half an hour.

What programme was that?

I recall that HMS Manchester was on Channel Five the week before trying to sink a fast boat, so maybe fast boats have more foam in them than expected.
