So 1 year later I am resurecting this thread.

I bought the Anderson connectors and they worked. Until they failed.

Just back from a 1 week cruise. Motor worked perfectly. Until the last morning. Turn the key, nothing, dead. Open the hatch to investigate, the Anderson connectors were breaking apart, the plastic was cracking and the bits that fell off revealed rusted contacts. They are NOT suitable for a marine environment.

I have replaced with another pair and filled the contact void with Vaseline in a vain attempt to make it last a bit longer, at least the remainder of this season. but the search is on again, for something better, properly waterproof and able to last more than 12 months in a marine environment,

You could try the SP range of IP68 waterproof connectors. The 2 pin SP21 is rated at 30 A. To get the gland to seal you would need one pair for each cable and parallel the 2 pins when you solder the wire on the back of the pins which should give you nearer 60A. There is also a larger SP25 and SP29 but these are not readily available compared to the SP21 from ebay or CPC.
It is not an ideal solution but is not expensive and should work fine.

Surprised, were they genuine Anderson/Durite connectors? No sign of rust on mine, in fact they are not made of steel at all so would not expect any rust,

They came from ebay so high probability of not genuine.
Anderson connections are not waterproof, but have reasonable durability even when exposed to salt water. The biggest drawback is they are bulky.

Genuine Anderson connectors are superior. There are many copies. The plastic housing is the biggest weak spot of the imitators. Cracks are common.
