Help.... Warm Beer and my trip.

Just thrashed Samurai all along the South Coast to Devon and Cornwall, for 2x weeks holiday. Get back to the marina and the main galley fridge has died. It obviously could ne take the strain.
Anyone know where I can find an Engel Fridge distributor South Coast?? Have tried a Google but only seem to get mail order companies selling portable Engel coolboxes. The compressor is making a strange noise either powered from 230V AC or from 12V DC. Am I wasting my time trying to repairing it or just get a new one?
Re trip, Westward went to Weymouth via Luworth Cove, Dartmouth Darthaven Marina, Salcombe The Bag, The Yealm Newton Ferris (The Dolphin pub), Plymouth Sutton Hbr, Fowey, Looe, Port Melon, Falmouth Port Dennis then next night at Mylor, Then retraced our route back avoiding Plymouth.

Engel used to be distributed in the uk by Sowester but they demised some time ago.
I personally replaced my old engel with a waeco/coolmatic 12v unit and the difference in performance and battery drain is remarkable.

You say we missed Helford and your right. I did want to go up there but I was talking to somebody in Mylor who had been prevented by the HM from anchoring as HM was limiting boats anchoring becasue of some "Eel Grass" that grows up there was getting damaged. Have you heard of this before?

Yes, there is a "voluntary anchoring restriction" in Helford in certain places because of the eelgrass. It's on the north side of the river estuary as you make your way in. But there are lots of buoyed moorings there, it is completely idyllic and a great pub on the south side! And if you are in to NT property there is the amazing Glendurgan gardens which are lovely (even for someone like me who can't tell a daisy apart from a rose!)

You must visit next time!

Hi Ian,
My cockpit fridge died and I have been looking for an Engel replacement too. I spoke to my electrics man yesterday who advised that Aqua Marine will supply a replacement that fits - slightly different model to the original Fairline fit but exactly the same size. I am just waiting for the tech spec - although the website doesn't say it's an Engel, he seems to think it is.

They have an online catalogue at http://www.aqua-marine.co.uk - you can't buy direct but my Mr Fix It can order one up.

Landing on the pontoons on the north side at Helford Village, a short walk takes you to the Shipwrights Arms. Great little pub with excellent freshly prepared food. Quite old (the pub not the food).

There are normally plenty of visitors moorings (green) which only seem to be charged for on overnight stays.
