Have arrived in Corfu Town at last. So visit Port Police to organise DEKPA. Up to Tax office to pay, wait 1 hour - tax offices closes - so back Monday morning. Paid €29 with formal receipt. Back to Port Police. Ah, but we have a problem. We have no DEKPA forms so we cannot give you a DEKPA. He sends us back to the tax office with a note to refund us. Refund made OK.
It appears they do not know how to get any more forms. We had a dutch boat alongside who had sailed from the southern Ionian via 2 Ports to get their Dekpa. Each time they were told that they could not issue one and that they need to go to Levkas - and then to Corfu, where they learnt the truth! It seems that the port police would not tell them the truth - loss of face???? Anyway we now have a crew list duly stamped (and paid for €15 - which I thought was not chargeable) with a note from the Port Police at Corfu saying that we had tried to get a DEKPA.
Anyone else had the same experience?
Corfu town is lovely, it has hardly changed since 29 years ago. We are tied up in the old harbour (for free) and will stay till the weekend when SWMBO joins.
So now off to find some camping GAZ. It appears that the factory was shut down due to safety breaches. I thin I ave located someone who will refill. Is this local to Corfu or Greece wide? I seem to remember Viv Cox posting about this some months back.
