We have done good! Now how about bad!
The instructor who I had done my Yachtmaster prep courses with a few weeks before, pop down to say hello .
I was talking with great confidence to him about how good my son [then 12] was in the rib with 15 hp on back.
While said son was getting rib ready to take out.
Well first son forgot to put the bung in and got wet feet.
Untied the boat before starting it. [Would not listen to any advice]
Then remembered he had left the oars put by it on the jetty.
So drifted off down marina tried to start engine, Failed the first 5 times.
Got it started, shot forwards when he put it in gear and promptly sat down in the puddle in the bottom of the boat.
With very little dignity left and with those on the jetty trying very hard not to laugh, he said he was just going to have a quick spin round marina.
He has never done things in that order again, and is now quite good on safety
I will point out he did have a lifejacket on.
