Re: Go on blame the ref. (NB)

Well I am sorry but as a detractor of this government (and admittedly - most others too) I do not agree.
All along I think one must look at the evidence (at least that made public) rather than assume that he who pays for the piper never gets the tune he wants.

Personally, I think it is intillectually outrageous that someone who is presumed to have some of his marbles can argue that there are 2 meanings of "sexed up" and that anyone who didn't hear the first (? 6 AM) broadcast where is WAS alleged the 45min claim was known to be false (which has been apologised for) but DID hear the later broadcasts where it concentrated on government spinning can be assumed to believe it meant lying. Total spinning rubbish IMHO.

Also, if you really believe the head of JIC appointed + paid by the government didn't change it all for political reasons and so the whole spin machine is entirely innocent, then I feel sorry for rather than critical of you

All IMHO and no personal offence meant

Re: Go on blame the ref. (NB)

Am I mistaken or not, but did I hear somewhere that Hutton is Gordon Browns secretary's mate/relative/something else??

Don't really give a stuff about the politics, just find it very hard to believe that a man employed by the Government, allegedly commits suicide due to pressures brought about by the media due to his apparent knowledge of a possible underhand action by his employer. Yes they would be mad that he had possibly "let the cat out of the bag" but as a small employer if I didn't protect one of my employees or be able to show that I had tried to protect them in a similar situation; I know I would probably feel so "guilty" I would want to slit my wrists, let alone resign, I would feel morraly bankrupt. Even less would I sit there like smug gits or pontificate. Surely to god no one can believe the JIC were not "leaned on".

This guys poor widow must be a Saint, my missus would have shot em! But then again Tony Martin did that and look where it got him.

Agreed and most of the time I believe in the cockup - having seen plenty.
I also think that lots of "weirdos" believe there is a conspiracy behind everything which I do not.

I do think that this report stinks and, for what it is worth (probably not much) I've been told a poll/survey today showed > 50% people believed it is a whitewash for the government. I also regrettably think most people will have forgotten it by next week considering the viewing figures for soaps, trash celebrity trash game shows

Yup .. and consider that the real corruption .. ie deception of parliament and the electorate, is now so commonplace that its forgotten in a week rather than becoming the real political crises they are. I have serious concerns for the current constitution where there are no real checks on the executive.

Re: Vacancy at the BBC

You could have look to see if any of those ministers involved in the privatisation of various organisations a few years ago,and who then joined the boards of those companies a few short months later are free.Could also check among the ex tory MPs who pass by my front door on the way to HMP Standford Hill if they have a spare moment./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
