Gas toaster

Does it remain stainless with use? All those stainless steel toaster grills to be used over gas flames I bought rapidly turned into rust :(

Yep, they're the type that works, although slowly. The pyramid types don't. Toast done on those is passable, but not quite the same.
Agree they do give a passable bit of toast (with practice).
However the mesh does tend to burn away with time.
Expect to get a seasons use out of it.
Anyone know where you can get replacement mesh or is there a n alternative use for the leftover frame?

Never had much luck with those. Better luck with a 2 slice vertical type, but may try another flat 2 slice one. Have tried most types and all require close attention to flame height as the boundary between no browning and burnt is narrow.

I'm talking to the licensed gas fitter tomorrow about doing the plumbing for my lpg stove on the yacht. I planned to toast using the griller

But now I've swung right away from gas and I'm going to see if I can use 240V induction hob, microwave, electric kettle and toaster all powered by solar panels. Maybe I'm expecting a bit much?

Have you turned the gas on?
If we turn away for a second, it goes black!
Agree about the pyramid types and the circular one with the flip up stays.
Ours is non magnetic but, at £6.50, they aren't exactly a fortune!

Are you towing a field full of PV panels behind your boat? A string of dumb barges maybe?

Have yo done a power audit?
Are you in the tropics?

Or are you not in the UK beginning of October to April?

I'll have to do an audit. But a 700W toaster would only be on for a couple of minutes per day. A 600ml kettle for a short time X3(?) times a day.

You could be right but when I read article like this...

Can I have one of your 700W toasters that does 4 slices at a time in a couple of minutes please?

700W on an inverter will equate to at least 70A from a 12v battery, do you know how long it will take your PV panels to put that back in?

I have a Ridge Monkey XL. Does good toast & i can do all sorts of meals in it , including a full english breakfast
I also have a smaller Ridge Monkey for toasted sandwiches & the odd single burger, sausages, or a bacon sarnie in the morning
Great pieces of kit. Can also make things like corned beef hash & make a meat pie. Does good steaks as well

Bit like our two part skillet. Performs as a low consumption oven as well.
