Hi All,
I'm considering moving my boat to the west coast Scotland next season (just for one season) can anyone recommend a securing mooring near Fort William. Many thanks,

Terry, Do you want to be in Fort William for a particular reason? ie access to the Caledonian canal maybe? Its just FW doesn't have a huge amount going for it as a place to moor a boat compared to say the Oban area. Oban and Connel both have mooring associations and I believe Connel have some spaces. I don't have a contact number to hand, but can get one, or a bit of googling should throw up a contact. Loch Creran marine and Linnhe Marine also run comercial moorings - could be worth a call.

I don't think Lochaber Yacht Club will accept anything other than sailing boats. Could try http://www.glencoeboatclub.org/. You could contact the canal about keeping your boat there, may also be worth speaking to the diving centre. Somewhere about Oban would give easier access to more interesting places to go than Fort William would though.

AMOA Achintore Mooring Owners Association will allow motor boats and there are several on moorings. I am selling and may rent my mooring which is advertised at http://www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk/view/F211296/ You could also put your boat on a canal mooring a Gairlochy but to you have to go through Neptunes Staircase at Banavie and the sea lock at Corpach to get into the sea whic will take a day or so.
