Hello forumites....

Looking at marinas now for our new boat and we quite fancy East Cowes. Firstly, I will start by saying we plan on buying a house in Cowes so the travel issue isnt a problem.

We were there yesterday and they are doing alot of work and extending it and it looks as though it is going to be nice once its completed. Its also not too expensive - £285 per metre, pa.

I was just wondering if any one on the forum kept there boat there and what they think of the service? Has anyone heard anything bad or anything good about it?

Thanks for help.

Hi there, we are mooring in East Cowes from April so perhaps we will be future neighbours. We have signed up for the year with a discount for being away two summer months. This option is a bit cheaper than the straight 12 month and suits if you plan a long sail. We have visited the marina a number of times and always found the staff really friendly. The river can be a bit noisy as it is a working/interesting place and working lights can disturb but this is only to be expected. We kept a boat at Haslar, Gosport for many years (same company) and only had good experiences of the company. The plan for new washrooms and laundry ashore should be to the same 'Haslar' high standard, Square Mile are offering internet access from this summer (£25 a month).

Re: I visit it quite often...

...and I like it well enough. It has got better year by year. The staff are quite a cheery bunch and the place is quite well kept. It does get stuffed with visitors at weekends though and loud parties, from across the river sometimes spoil an evening in the cockpit.
