I see the budget sports shop Decathalon are doing self i flating LJs for €61

Anyone had experience of these LJs. Any good for a new crew coming for aroumd the cans club racing. I have said to my crew thay should get their own LJ if coming regularly, as personal safety kit they should be responsible for their own.

Anyway, as a cheap first LJ what do the forumites think?

Does it have the relevant BS, EN or whatever, numbers on it?

I guess it depends on size/shape of crew and whether it fits them -no point buying if uncomfortable but I guess questions more about standard re operation etc- I guess these might not have hoods etc and many might prefer a jacket type lj

For that price £59.99 it doesn't have a crotch strap or a tether point for use as a harness. Got to go up to £99.99 to get those which then makes it more sensible on a 'racing' boat, though whether the harness bit is required for round the cans I'm not sure.

As said by others, no crotch strap and not for use as a harness too. For those reasons, if it were me, I would not buy.

Purchased 6 auto jackets with crotch straps from Decathlon around 6 or 7 years ago.
They were considerably less expensive than the named competition being sold in my local chandlery..
They have stood the test of time we'll in the wear and tear department..
Still in use and the gas cylinders probably need checking .
We know thet they still inflate as one of the grandkids discovered last year.

I have the older model of that with the crotch strap and tether attachment. Very pleased with the comfort and it uses industry standard gas canister and auto firing system so spares are easier to find. I fell in the water the other day (don't ask) and it inflated quickly and kept me afloat whilst hanging on to a pretty heavy bag that was trying to sink to the bottom. It is quite a few years old now but wearing well. All of the Decathlon gear I have bought for sailing has been good quality and value so I would recommend as a solid budget option.

I've bought a lot of stuff from Decathlon. I've found so long as you don't buy the bottom of the range, super cheap stuff, it's inevitably better than competitors stuff up to at least twice its price.

Based on buying running stuff, cycling stuff, climbing stuff, skiing stuff and a decent selection of camping stuff for good measure.

I wouldn't hesitate buying Decathlon for pretty much anything
