Re: Empty vessels...

A lively, friendly, informative forum isn't like a court of law or Just a Minute, with replies strictly addressed precisely to the question and not the tiniest deviation.
It's more like a good discussion in a pub - lots of ideas, a bit of banter, some interesting or amusing digressions, a bit of pedantry, and every now and then someone repeating the question because we have all got carried away and forgotten what it was.
If you don't want human interaction just type the question into Google and spend a lonely few hours ploughing through all the leads.

Re: Empty vessels...

That sums up the way I look at it very nicely , if I'm out with freinds or a group of like minded people you get the quiet ones that spend most of the time just listening , so when they do speak up they end up where nobody notices , but with the general banter that goes on , a lot of very useful information comes out . As you say , there is always google for the ones that don't want to join in but if I need advice I usually find a forum that involves that subject and ask for advice from people directly involved in that subject . I needed advice about an alarm system once and when I asked the question , the first reply was a pish take so I waited till I had the answer then had a pop at the pish taker and ended up having a really freindly chat with the others there and they wanted me to stay because I livened up their otherwise boring forum . If people just want a forum where only certain people are allowed , and only certain things are discussed they get just that , and it ends up boring . I stepped into the Thames Forum once , almost fell asleep so I got out quick

Ha! Doesn't apply to saily boats under sail.

Interestingly it doesn't apply to the radio control boats that the modellers buzz annoyingly up and down.

Thinks...............
