Re: Empty vessels...

Agree - with everything.

It is just such a shame that some of the prolific posters resort to school ground bullying from time to time when they disagree with a "newish" poster... The "I have posted here for 999 years so must be right" type of comment undermines the efforts and contributions of the vast majority of the regular and prolific posters.

Marc.

I have been roasted, hang drawn and quartered, called names, told truths in their eyes, praised, ignored, you name it I have been "done over" and I am still here, /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Its a community.

There are peeps on here I count as friend, some in the flesh, some only by the written word, but all are a part of a forum community, like real life, there are some peeps you like better than others but you tolerate them for harmony's sake until they cross your line, then you let them know.!

For those that accept it for what it is, and do not try and change it, they will become a apart of it, those that try and instill there perspective on ever thing will find they get short shift after the "honeymoon period"

Its what you put into to it you get out of it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Best sailing forum there is IMO.

I try to contribute where I can however, whenever I have something to say most people have already said it!

Always found it to be an invaluable resource for any sailing questions.

As for snide remarks etc. about regulars. It always happens in forums, if you ignore them they go away.

Ah Mr Haddock , doesn't matter if someone has already said it mate , there's plenty that don't read replies they just answer a question , which confuses sometimes because you end up going round the houses , and as far as making them go away , that's not likely to happen , but it would be nice if some that think they're being clever with their method of reply thought about what they were doing . A forum does only work if people respond , the straight forums where a question is asked and once answerred it's sealed so not too many comments go on it are for technical forums only , but as this isn't a lending library it only works because people are willing to respond and sometimes have a bit of fun too

It doesn't do any harm to confirm an opinion already stated and often lends weight to a suggestion.

Re: Empty vessels...

Agree This is a great Forum with so many experienced people willing to freely share their knowlege or in many cases skills.

If you have problems whether it be directly related to sailing or the computer there are some great people on here like Brendan that will help you.

I only get anoyed when some newbe asks a genuine question and gets a put down answer instead of educating and encouraging. Thankfully it only happens a few times and often the put down can be partly excused as the person thought it was a troll. Some haughty replies get the response from many that they deserve.

I have wondered if the few people that give a put down reply are Captain Blighs when on their boats but others that have meet them have been supportive and said they are a really nice person. Perhaps a few suffer a personality change with the anonymity of a Forum.
