Theft on the River Blackwater

Hi all, a heads up and a request for help.
Between 0230 and 0335 on Wednesday the 14th, a boat moored up to the Marconi pontoon hammerhead and the person onboard went ashore and appeared to remove items from a boat in our cruiser park. The following day the owner reported his boat broken into and several items stolen. We have cctv footage of this taking place and this is where you come in. The boat we are trying to identify has a dark hull, white or light coloured topsides, is about 28ft long, has a single mast, a large cockpit for its length, fairly low freeboard, possibly a forward sloping transom and possibly square windows. The boat is possibly a cat as the items stolen would suit a cat. It was about 1 1/2 hours before HW so not much draft. Considering it was dark and he appeared to be single-handed it was skilfully done. He was also towing a tender so I assume he came off a mooring somewhere. I will download the video later and see if I can post a picture on here. There were no nav lights on at any time. We have discussed this with the police and they are happy to have it posted on the forum. Keep your eyes open as its the start of the nicking season and thanks for any help.

I've just had my brother on the phone about outboard thefts on the Deben in or around Woodbridge. He says the boat moored next to him had two above water level bolts cropped and two below, so not only did the bast*ards get the out board they sank his neighbours boat. They also apparently did over the sailing club rescue launches and cut out the transom to get the outboard off

I've advised him to get a PVC outboard cover off the police and take his outboard cover home with him. There is not a lot else you can do except try to reduce any profitability in it for the thieves. He's not quite sure why they decided to leave his engine as it was close by. I'm not sure exactly when this happened, but its very recent as he sounded quite upset on the phone.

He just has a small motor fishing boat with a cuddy (I havn't actually seen it so I'm guessing a bit)
