Theft on the River Blackwater
Hi all, a heads up and a request for help.
Between 0230 and 0335 on Wednesday the 14th, a boat moored up to the Marconi pontoon hammerhead and the person onboard went ashore and appeared to remove items from a boat in our cruiser park. The following day the owner reported his boat broken into and several items stolen. We have cctv footage of this taking place and this is where you come in. The boat we are trying to identify has a dark hull, white or light coloured topsides, is about 28ft long, has a single mast, a large cockpit for its length, fairly low freeboard, possibly a forward sloping transom and possibly square windows. The boat is possibly a cat as the items stolen would suit a cat. It was about 1 1/2 hours before HW so not much draft. Considering it was dark and he appeared to be single-handed it was skilfully done. He was also towing a tender so I assume he came off a mooring somewhere. I will download the video later and see if I can post a picture on here. There were no nav lights on at any time. We have discussed this with the police and they are happy to have it posted on the forum. Keep your eyes open as its the start of the nicking season and thanks for any help.
