There are reports that her current boyfriend is an assistant manager at Brighton marina. Maybe that helps?

Ah ha I'm not surprised .Does this put her blagging onto a new level or is it just love . Part 2 could start reading like a Mills and Boon . sigh !

You are such a sad, sad creature.

Which one? The fat blonde singer or the Trollope that got smashed up in the tunnel?

Hmmm two posts separated by twenty minutes and a galaxy of hypocrisy.

Trollope is a family name (in fact hers was Spencer). I think you were searching for the word "trollop". Interesting to defend Ellie on the one hand and yet speak in such a way of another woman. Whether you liked her or not it is a very poor way to speak of someone who met a horrible and untimely death.

Your second post quoted is not really one to show the grandchildren is it? Time for a look in the mirror.

I love it.

Everyone playing Pontification, God, Judge, inward looking..

Issa bucket of crabs I reckon..''look out there, one is getting away ( with it, lol)''

We're all over 30, its irrelevant guys, its a done deal.

But any perceived nastiness will haunt the internet , as these things do.
So what eh?

Meanwhile has anyone read Ellies meticulous ( they really are or were, and I say that having cut my teeth on leaky old wooden tat) preparations that she took for a wet or leaky launch..?

If she can put that level of real preparation, organisation, concentration into the next business plan, whoooosh..We're all doooomed to being sillyold farts and has-beens. I think its quite funny really.

I agree, she's an inspiration to us all and not since the Rocna debacle have there been threads like this. I'm going to miss them when they all die down. My favourite two types of post have been the Colonel Melchet types blustering about some chaps being mean about a mere slip of a gal; and the best are the ones that say that they're only posting on the thread to say that it's wrong to post on the thread and we should all go sailing, meanwhile the irony of their post flies far over their heads, I love oxymorons and some of those posts were the best I've seen on the forum.

I think you've covered every thread ever started there, Simon.
( now you see why I don't start threads, which is of course hypocritical. But then, so what?)

Btw , when you bought your first house at 23, may I ask what the earnings/ lend ratio was and did you work for a financial institution at the time or tax free overseas?
For me, I had to drive and drive till I could afford one and then commute part weekly. We all do it different eh!

It occurs to me that which side of the fence you fall all depends on whether you would be proud to have JE as your daughter (or even, grand daughter in some cases).

I'm completely neutral. I have never met Eleanor and I am unlikely to do so. I wish her no ill at all and I hope in a general way that life goes well for her, as I would anyone else. I think the "young girl" schtick is going to run out of steam fairly soon ("I'm a young girl of 27 with a dream" is heading for mad cat lady territory) but as long as she can work it, good luck to her.

What I do object too, a bit, is other people telling me this fairly mundane project is one of the great sea adventures of our time. It sounds fun, and I hope it goes well, but the voyage of the James Caird it ain't. Well, ain't yet, I suppose. Let's see what happens.

Get used to it. Not the first time this forum (and indeed, the wider sailing community) has been taken in by the pontifications of those whose aspirations far exceed their ability.

I agree- some of those posts were certainly from morons.

Anyone whose aspirations don't exceed their ability is a bit of a sad sack.

Oh, I agree with that.

What I have a problem with is people trumpeting their aspirations in public and then mysteriously disappearing from the face of the planet when they fall at the first hurdle.

Does not need to be particularly earth shattering - 'I am going to sail from Oban to Cyprus and I plan to do it in one hit'.

Next thing is, they are sitting in Ayr, licking their wounds.

I suppose it is the availability of the internet audience who seem to be 'truly inspired' by even the most mundane of events.
