Oh my goodness! That was a saga that completely passed me by! The chap certainly doesn't seem to have done himself any favours here or anywhere!

And after TEN years has stopped updating his site.

Do a search on here . It ran and ran . Makes our Ellie look like an amateur .

It's a lovely day, sitting at anchor after a sail up to Aldeburugh, SWMBO and younkers' ashore so I'm feeling benevolent and hereby promote you to Grand High Admiral Clyst. No finer man have we served under and we will not see his like again.

You 're only trying to get me into trouble. Sir you are two faced and have no guts ..... A true Kipper !!:)

Someone on this thread (I think) said that they knew the family and that they are charming but you are quite right - that website does them no good at all. What's the point of scans of letters from Downing Street saying that it's a reserved matter for the Cardiff Assembly? It's also extremely difficult to work out what exactly happened.

The posts on this forum didn't particularly help them either: http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?23312-Penarth-Marina-and-mv-Picton&highlight=Picton

The gallery is amazingly disparate - and tedious - and yes the story is not at all well told. From messages here, it appears that the marina ran dry presumably because of a lock gate failure so their boat 'fell over' yet suffered little damage. And it escalated from there to the point the marina said goodbye. Reading his style of posts, I would say goodbye also.

I suspect the chap just put everyone's backs up through accusation and insinuation. He even accused the RNLI of investigating his background and not co-operating with his 'demands' for information.

I can't help thinking that there was an early resolution just around the corner if a little tact and persuasion was employed.

Parallels with Ellie... not many. Bit of an insurance issue, and not finding a suitable crane (let alone a low loader) for an inspection in his case.

I've worked in marine insurance, they will always quote for a specific circumstance - its not hard and often very cheap for cover over a limited time.

Oh well, that was a decade ago.

Having spent a considerable amount of time reading through this thread it seems a good place to mention that my son, who is the same age as Ellie, is in the process of setting up a business in Sydney. He rang me last night as he needs about £1000 in order to get EPA Approval (Environmental Protection Agency I think) for the project. I am sure that I can get a few photos of him and knock up a brief synopsis of his project if I could get a bit of sponsorship for him. Obviously it would be much better for me if a few others could financially support my son rather than me (or him!!!). Thanks to all sponsors in advance (breath being held...)

Oh dear a son .Dont think you will get much help nor sympathy here now if it was a daughter things would be different however I think we should all chip in a fiver each to help out . let us us know how he gets on . BTW does his project involve a crane ? If so maybe a low loader will help . what does the forum think ?

What about scribbling on the bottom of his boat . He haven't got one ? Doesn't matter apparently entrepreneurs think they make money this way cos the public are so gullible .Food for thought .

Don't be so tight, just send him the money, I'll bet you wouldn't even notice it going out of your wallet.

If you had read the original thread you would have seen that it was wholly supportive and helpful until Preston Marina made their statement and Eleanor vanished.

Even if she had decided to withdraw because of all the nasty howwid people, she could have kept blogging (but didn't), tweeting (but didn't) or updating the facebook page (www.facebook.com/MFV-Elizmor, now deleted).
Yes it's the statement from Preston Marina that's pivotal in all this, Thats the point where JumbleDuck, Clyst and others turned on Ellie for her unfair critisism of Preston marina...and my god did they turn on her! No wonder she withdrew
Except.....she never was directly critical of Preston Marina, she expressed frustration and detailed the facts of the problem in a pretty uncritical way. It was actually JumbleDuck and Clyst who were most critical of the marina....what a pair of utter dicks they are are!
Ellie seems to have restarted her blog without referance to all the nonsense on these blogs about her, A slip of a girl giving a lesson in dignity and maturity to a couple of silly old duffers

What utter rubbish show me where I have been critical of Preston Marina .Yes I have been critical of our Ellie especially of her frumping off way before any critism and I make no apology for that .

EDIT, Just noticed you are a new poster . Seems strange you only have interest in this thread .
