I have had the good fortune to meet TCM in a couple of bars and anchorages through the Caribbean - take him with a pinch of salt he is actually a very good bloke - and he KNOWS cruising inside out.

Have a click on my signature below then a read of SWMBO'S book at http://www.sailawaybook.com/.
( TCM is probably in it somewhere! ) Feel free to give me a call if you want a chat.

A Westerly Discuss 33 undertook some amazing voyages with this fellow who I have also had the good fortune to meet.

Ooh, humbled again. I might have to buy the book to see if I'm in it.... 'cept I am stuck in the carib on an island with no postcodes. Can I buy an electronic version of the book?

Interesting the OP has not returned to the fray so thread has turned into a good reflection of the diverse approaches to the cruising lifestyle. Long may it stay that way, but I hope he has gained some useful insight from reading the contributions (and will improve his literary skills so he can write a book when he has done it)!

You can indeed buy a Kindle version from the weblink and the first chapter is free to read as well- but I did mean you are in it in a metaphorical/spiritual way, as it was many of your posts on here that inspired us to head off into the blue yonder in the first place! :encouragement:

wow gosh - that's even more humbling! I am delighted if I had even the slightest tiny input towards you and your lot having such a fab adventure. But the fact is that you did it, and not many do. I am betting that you plan to go off again one day. Selling bluewater yots and books about bluewater sailing - i can't imagine that you wouldn't....

I do keep looking wistfully towards that Horizon...
