Hi Paul,
I’m with GJW, they are competitive and their policy suits my needs. I’ve previously used Pantaneus and Y. I’ve never had to make a claim (touch wood) so can’t comment on their claims process though.

Not sure if it’s true but I heard they have been taken over this week , when I tried the site for a quote it crashes .
Believe HKJ is underwritten by Amlin.

Been with them for 25 years. One very big claim hit by tornado (£42k+) paid up without a quibble and subsequently my policy was not loaded.

We need to judge insurers by claims experiences otherwise we could say nice things about anyone sat in an office taking money from us year after year and getting nothing in return.
I was with GJW some years ago and did make a claim relating to Electrolysis damage to my Outdrive Trim rams (long story and posted on here at the time, I think) and even with some supporting evidence and after some discussion with their technical lead it was rejected. At the time GJW policy had clauses around electrolysis. I think that has improved now, but worth double checking the GJW policy.

Interesting, not something that I would have thought is covered.

Pantaenios for the same reasons as Andrew M states above. Renewal has just come through and is the same as last year.

Hmmm....didn't know that.
Last one was in 2020 so okay for a while yet I guess.
It used to be 7 years but they changed it a few years ago, I had to login to their website and upload a scan of the survey for the 10 year to apply, give them a call.
I would say you actually get to speak to a British accent in the UK but it's usually a scouser on the other end so you still need a translation (tongue in cheek).

With GJW for a very long time
Couldn’t fault them
However they don’t do “Commercial” anymore
So with Pant
However Insured a couple of small boats earlier this year
Trailer types
Used Craft Insure
Very easy to deal with
Sorted all on the phone and a simple online bit
Sold one within 3 months of paying the premium
Rang em
Got a bloody good rebate fair play
Top peeps for small boat stuff
Dunno about proper motor boats though
Yep
Pantaniuis, or however ya spell it🫣
So far so good

Can just about understand why insurance might fork out if for whatever reason the skipper manages to damage his sterngear by accident or negligence but would have thought the matter of making sure your anodes are there and working is surely a service and maintenance matter.
The skipper did the work, its his problem, somebody was paid, its their problem. ?
Fair wear and tear.
