Happy to disorganise this again.

FYI, neapish weekends that time of year are September 25/26 (3.3m range) or slightly better October 9/10 (1.7m range). No need to decide yet, but it might be worth noting these in diaries. If anyone has got a really tarty tide prediction prog handy, could they give us mid-channel tide speeds for those dates?

Or, how about St Vaast instead?

i THINK A St Vaast trip would be really nice but we'd have to be careful about 2 things
1) Tide time for access
2) Pissing off Robin coming from Poole ..

HW St Vaast on Fri/Sat on the Sept Dates is 1900/2000, Sun is 0914.
HW St Vaast on Fr/Sat on the Oct Dates is 1840/1900, 0829. (French times)

OK for return trips, outbound would need to be overnight unless skiving all day off on Friday. At our planning speed we would leave Poole around 0900 or 2100 and arrive around HW St Vaast +/-, quick look only, needs to be refined!

Cherbourg has more choice of restaurants and is all weather all times open. Bearing in mind some people have set off and turned back, then restarted on another boat and others have needed to turn back to France when a little bit of unexpected breeze blew up, Cherbourg does has the big advantage of flexibility in being open all hours and all weathers. They might like to take that into account.....

For us Cherbourg is 8.5hrs +/- and St Vaast is 10hrs+/- not a lot either way except if we went to Cherbourg we could leave after lunch on Friday and still arrive around midnight and get a good night's sleep in readiness for the long round of party going.

Re: Twister Ken

I'm happy with either date. Whilst I prefer St Vaast as a place to visit (and it has better pontoons), I'm easy if it's Cherbourg too, particularly if this would mean a bigger meet of boats. TW, do you think we ought to ask Kimmie set up a special place for the thread, in place of the 2003 one?

Re: Twister Ken

Only cos Jimi started it!

It was a genuine observation too, St Vaast is very nice but it does impose restrictions on departure/arrival times that might make it difficult for some.
