I think she is. It's sad to see a boat like that. If it was a solo liveaboard, it's even sadder to think of the deterioration of the boat paralleling that of the man.

I seriously looked at buying one of these a few years ago in my abortive efforts to own a "proper" boat rather than a Bavaria.

They are very appealing (if you like that sort of thing) and the one I looked at in tip top condition was fabulous. However, the odd one that is affordable (ie cheap) like the one currently for sale is a money pit. They are very complex boats, put together with no concessions to ease of access, and most of the equipment is so obsolete you can't get bits. So it is a case of either running it in its current shabby state, forever having to fix bits piecemeal, or stripping it bare and filling it with new gear. Somebody did that recently with one its smaller sisters (a Halberdier) and spent £80k - did look nice, though, but sold for rather less than the refit cost.

There is a super Caribineer 46' at Deauville. Satcom, two radars, the works and always immaculate. When you see it like that €79k isn't that much.

I have one like that. She sometimes spoils my fun but her good sense keeps us out of the workhouse.
