Was a bit of a crap weekend, a shortage of crew meant very little boating for me, this bloody mooring is impossible for me to pick up single handed and I am now considering moving the boat into a mdl marina, anyhow, eventually I found somone to come out for a blast monday evening.
So off we go charging round the solent, new fuel line fix is fine and both engines right up to speed. We went flying into the wake of a ship at about 25 knots and a big green one came over the top, anyway, putting the boat to bed I thought, bloody hell, thats a lot of water in the bilge, didn't think that much came over the top...so pumped it out and went home.
Had a day off yesterday and had agreed to take out a colleague who had never been on a boat b4 or been to the Pile of Shite, we got out to the boat and whooaa, lots and lots of water, pumped it all out and started looking for the leak.
Fairey boats have a stern gland assembly designed by Alan Burnard that is cooled by a feed off the raw water and the pipe from the engine down to the sterngland had been rubbing on the shaft and was pissing in through the split, oh well, know what the problem is, lets have a day out, popped over to Cowes, had some lunch. Popped into Beken to look at the foto of Stingo and I they took on our way to Newtown but the union jack stickers wernt on so never bort it. Went for a rumble down to the needles where it was all misty and yuk and came home, did 29.7 knots, already seem to be a little off the pace cos the bottom is dirty.
When we got back there was loads and loads of water in the boat, so temporarily fixed it by moving the pipe so that the damaged bit is above water line (cunning eh?) and will get a nu bit today, bilges were mucky so dumped in a load of bilgex.
That's all folks.
