If this means a reduction in anchor threads - I can only think there is a God

However - you always do write sensibly and inoffensively so it leaves me wondering what they who seem to have to be obeyed are after from a Sailing Forum.
I wonder - with you all being exposed to the sun such a lot - do you have expertise in the area of Acne? It doesn't seem impossible to me at least, for an Acne Fred to drift into an Anchor Fred

You could take the view that to have a ban imposed is rather a badge of office - rather like wearing an electronic tag in various areas of our benighted country...

You did comment that the Mods might be suffering from nervous palpitations - this would of course, suggest that they are human - I think you'd possibly need to get back to the long gone days of dear old Kim to establish such a credential

Like most here I have the greatest respect for Jonathan ,
I just received an email from another long standing member who been ban for life . The reason given is beyond me and to honest I'm shocked . ( See below )
Like many here I been posting for many years trying to help who every I can and receiving help when I needed help ,
I particularly find it hard to write post ,
I do have a very bad case of dyslexia as many know and thank you tho who put up with my jumbled posting ,
Some have been read to mean I'm having s go at the post when really I just given my own view like we all do.

What worrying for me is if well written posting can be mistake for some thing else , what chance have people like my self and once ban it seen there the Mod are not willing to reply to explain why a ban had been it in place .

Here is part of an email I got from this member , Richard S , I see no reason in the rules I can't post it.

As I know this guy , I believe what he told me is true .
I had to remove a link but I sure most will be able to work out what the you tube link is ..

have really no idea what happened with the YBW forums. As you can see from the emails below between me and Pete Green of Halcyon Yacht delivery, Pete posted up a link to this video on August 9th:

A few days later I looked for the video again but the entire thread had vanished so I assume that there had been some argument in the posts following the video although I had not posted in the thread. Another forumite then asked what had happened to the video since he was intended to go through the Gibraltar Straits so I posted up the link to the video again in a different thread as he could not find it on YouTube.

Within a few hours I received an email from the Moderator telling me that I was banned for life from all YBW forums with immediate effect!

I have written to YBW several times but have never received any explanation about what was wrong with the video or why posting a link to it deserves a lifetime ban but they are clearly not going to change their decision. Pete Green has never received any warnings or communication about the video so also has no idea why I should receive a lifetime ban for posting the same link as he did.

However, it is YBW's forum and it's their rules so I have no choice but to accept the ban but please feel free to explain on the forum why I have disappeared as it was not by my choice.

After posting Richard email I probably got someone back up , so expect me to disappear at some point .

It is conceivable that the forum has been captured by Stalinists who are disappearing members simply for upsetting them or we are getting one side of the story from those aggrieved at being sanctioned. I know which seems more likely to me.

I try hear not to do hearsay although it's impossible as nearly everything everyone post is hearsay one way or another including your posting,
Unless it's an experience tho them self have experienced, then it's all hearsay,
So when we post MrX said doing this or that will sort the problem out , it's hearsay who knows where MrX got his info from, most likely some other hearsay .

It's Richard email I posted , first hand for the person involved I also seen copy's of emails from Pete of Halcyou yachts a respected guy not only here but also in business.( yes you have to take my word for it)
so I know what am told is no BS

Richard don't have a voice so on his behalf I'm voicing it for him.
Just as I and many others have voiced it for Jonathan did manage to have a say and explain his comment which now seen he will be allowed back in and rightly so.
Has a member of ybw for over 15 years I'm disgusted by what's happen to Richard and have to wonder how many more here have been ban in this way for no reason then a Mod interpretation of a post.

Posting can be interpreted in many way , it wasn't long a ago when you interpreted one of mine to say I was accusing you of some thing ,
I not only PM you to make it clear it wasn't referring to you I also had to publicly post on the site as my PM wasn't returned ,
I wanted to make sure you got the message so there be no miss understanding as normally we get on and have the same interest.

I agree there have to be rules,
I also agree people should be put on shore leave and there time when some need to be banned, but to ban someone for posting a link to a YouTube video on the requested of another posting looking for the link, is way out of line.
Why not also ban the people who ask for the link while that are at it.
Better still while not just ban all links, that should really kill off the site and many posting have links.

I'm not suggesting the Mod should explain to us ,
But out of human decency that should at less give the chance to them to respond to the ban and a chance to explain.
I hope my posting will get someone in a more higher position to look at Richard case again and at the very less email him with a respond to his emails .

We are all human and we will all at some point lost our way .

With respect Vic (the genuine kind, not the pretend sort that covers up contempt) and friendliness this is the problem, at least as I see it.. Do you really know this is the whole reason or is it part of the story? Would anyone accidentally posting such a link be banned for this or is there more to it?. Has the person concerned had repeated run-ins with the mods, or has previously been warned or refuses to accept other kinds of sanction? I've no idea. So all I'm suggesting is that we should be cautious about rushing to judgement when we don't have all the facts. The forum has become a bear pit which is a pretty unfriendly place to many. I can't think when I last heard from any women sailors here for example - plenty post on other groups I'm part of where respectful discussion is the norm. So I'm glad that our referees are trying to tackle this.

David this is what I can tell you ,
I known Richard for 5 years o met his family and his a genuine guy .
I seen all the emails between him and Pete , so yes I believe every things he told me is true .
If he was some random guy from here who only contract is throught the stranger world of the net , I wouldn't had got involve .
On that note as I know I getting someone back up , I leave it at that .

Shame we seem to have lost the video contributions from Halcyon Yachts, they were always well done and provoked some useful discussions.

I suspect those moaning about advertising may be to blame, if so great. The way we are going it will soon be a politically perfect forum, with zero contributions.
