I believe when the gypsies have had enough travelling they screw a wagon wheel on the house or leave one on display in the garden. The travellers equivalent to an anchor in the front garden.

When we were away with my daughter on the boat and strolling around ashore when she was younger we invented the game 'Punch Boat!'.

The first person to spot a model boat proudly displayed in the window of a house, delivers a light blow, rather than a full power punch, to the other...Punch Boat!

Hours of fun and an adaptation of the game the kids played on the school bus, 'Punch Car!' which involved spotting Audi's.

That is very interesting regarding the gypsies and their wagon wheel. Used to be a common sight in the middle class home counties a few decades ago.
As regards boats in windows, well you would all be black and blue with bruises and probably locked up if you took a stroll around my home town of Aldeburgh. Every second holiday home has a model sailing boat in the window, some very impressive examples. In fairness we do have a purpose built boat pond in the centre of town.

(Years ago I built a large wooden model of a Baltic Trader whilst running a Classical CD shop at Snape Maltings.
Quite pleased with it actually, although I have yet to glue the propeller on. Not in my window but a purpose living room shelf, gathering dust).

Fisherman anchor and a big pile of rusty chain, about three wheelbarrows worth down the side of the garage.

Here is my modest model of Lilla Dan. It is a Billing Kit but requires cutting planks and some fiddly glueing.
As I said it is gathering dust, just one of those things I never seem to get round to.
I make no claims to be an expert model maker, just something I did in some spare time.
Pic with piano is for scale.

That is a mighty fine model indeed! She looks pretty much finished now - do you still have some fiddly work to do, or is it just a case of dusting it now which you never get around to? :)

There was a lovely Baltic Trader called Jens Juhl sailing in the Eastern Caribbean in the late 70's / early 80's - she was carrying cargo under sail (although they did have an auxiliary diesel), and they managed to make it pay for some years.
I found this link via Google re a Blog by two Jens Juhl crew in 1981 - their adventures start in February, so scroll down a bit to Feb ???

Is that a cello or a double bass next to the piano?

And it is always fascinating to see what sort of knick knacks and pictures other folk collect in photos like these.
@Seashoreman what are the two rattle thingies on sticks stuck behind the piano? They look like something exotic, from far away.

@Chiara’s slave - is she an X Boat? The pink is quite stunning.

Double Bass, restored by me.
Rattles are Maracas. I did a course in percussion and these are for developing Latin Clave rhythm.

(my Grandfather was a percussionist with Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. A multi-instrumentalist with a passion
for musical instruments. I seem to have inherited some of this. Fortunately I don't have a 3rd floor to my house
to fill with musical instruments as he did, the ultimate musicians man cave. I was born in that house and spent a lot of
my developing years visiting and banging and twanging up there)
(NB. one never knows what may influence children. Grandad used to occasionally take me to a performance when he was in the Orchestra Pit. I was totally in a Wonderland. Hence I ignored my Fathers wishes/demands that I followed him into Chemistry and became a Piano Restorer. I have a workshop/showroom full of pianos, am rebuilding a Steinway Model A Grand (c)1890 at the moment).
Sorry about all that and thanks for positive comments on my modest boat model.
